Be Like Mike | Michael Jordan What did He Really Know

No doubt Michael Jordan became one of the greatest basketball players of all time.  But he knew that talent and skill had to be developed.  Let’s look at some of the lessons he learned through his own journey from his own words.

Michael Jordan Believed:

1.  You had to trust the game!

“Be true to the game, because the game will be true to you. If you try to shortcut the game, then the game will shortcut you. If you put forth the effort, good things will be bestowed upon you.”

Michael Jordan

Jordan believed he got out exactly what he put in.  He was responsible for how he performed and the results he had not the game.  If you don’t trust the game you think it’s unfair or you don’t have the same advantage as someone else you won’t work as hard.  Eventually you will quit and blame the game versus you.  Michael Jordan never did that.

2. Master the Fundamentals!

“You can practice shooting eight hours a day, but if your technique is wrong, then all you become is very good at shooting the wrong way. Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise.”

Michael Jordan

Jordan knew just like basketball and life getting the basics or the fundamentals right was more important then finding a short cut or attempting to cheat the system.  When you master the fundamentals you can excel in a skillset and become an All Star.  Once you jump from trick to trick looking for an easier way you just practice the wrong technique over and over with no real skill developed.

3. Practice Every Day!

“I’m not out there sweating for three hours every day just to find out what it feels like to sweat.”

Michael Jordan

Jordan became better than anyone else by practicing. Through his loses and his wins he was always known to be one of the first to the gym and one of the last to leave.  Michael Jordan practiced through his failures and success and he never quit

4. Learn How to Fail!

Text From Video

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot… and missed. And I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

“I can accept failure everyone fails at something, but I can’t accept not trying”

Michael Jordan

5. Fear Is an Illusion!

“I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but it’s an illusion to me.”

Michael Jordan

Our fears can become our reality if we let it. When you are fearful there is no desire to take advantage of opportunities or take any risk.  Fear for many is the only reason they give up on life.  Will fear be an obstacle for you or an illusion?

6. Excellence Speaks for Itself

“Let your game be your promotional or marketing tool.”

Michael Jordan

When the Bulls were selling out stadiums at both home and away games.  It wasn’t an amazing marketing department that did it.  But instead the results of amazing teamwork coming together in excellence.

Let’s your results and performance speak for itself.  No marketing firm needed!

Your results will silence your critics and boost your business,
