Working from Home = Freedom

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Recently after returning from a weekend at a Dani Johnson training event, while the training was powerful and I absolutely recommend Dani Johnson to anyone in a home business something else more practical came out of that weekend.  Traveling on an airplane or staying in a hotel there is always a risk that if you are going to catch a virus or some type of cold it’s going to happen in those environments.

After an intense weekend going through First Steps to Success with Dani Johnson, I came home with a wicked cold.  As I type this my voice is still struggling and it feels like I’m on the mend.  But the best part about working from home is the freedom not to have to worry if I have a sick day, vacation day or if my boss is going to let me off.  I get to work when I want and how I want.  No I haven’t actually stopped working, but I’ve had the FREEDOM to work at my own pace and get some extra sleep and needed rest.  If you have a legitimate home business you’ve experienced real freedom.  To travel when you want.  To have time off and vacation when you want and build memories with your kids and grandkids.  It’s a freedom that is so foreign to most.

Have you ever talked to someone about having the ability to work from home and they just thought it was too good to be true?  It’s amazing the box we get stuck in because a real concept is “foreign” to us.  If you have a legitimate lucrative home business, it’s because you believed there was something better than the daily grind and you did some thing about it!  Congrats to you, because anyone can choose a life of freedom but most choose to believe what they’ve been told.

God Bless,

Moms Know Failure Leads to Success

Posted by: | Comments (0)

When we start working from home for the first time or do anything brand new often times we experience failure.  Moms understand this very well because usually they are the ones that taught us a lot of first in our lives.  Could you imagine what your life would be like if the first time you were learning to go to the restroom and failed and your mom gave up teaching you?  What about if the first time you were learning to walk and fell down what if your mom stopped teaching you?  Today you don’t have to walk around with a big bulky diaper on or crawl everywhere because moms understand that failure ultimately leads to success.

Since moms have proven this example over and over again.  How come throughout life we’ve all benefitted from this model but we never adopt it.  Look at our marriages, careers and financial goals in life.  How many people wait till they hit one barrier to give up or quit.  Why is our divorce rate so high in our country?  Some of us choose a dead in job so we don’t have to deal with the challenge of going after more.  We get in this comfort zone.  Many of us have the desire to be our own boss, own our own business and/or work from home entirely but we had one bad experience or we are afraid of a bad experience so we stop working towards our goals.  Did we learn to pee right the first or second time?  Good thing mom stuck in there with us!

Being an entrepreneur, starting any business working for ourselves requires that mom trait.  Knowing that the end result is going to be better than were we are.  Understanding that we learn through failure and without failure we cannot succeed.  We can’t learn what to do right if we are afraid of what could go wrong.  Listen we have to be smart, we need to make sure the right tools are in place for success but at the end of the day we have to make the choice to succeed.  When we make that choice we choose just like mom did to never give up and press on till we get it right!

Thanks Mom,

Well Merry Christmas to all!

Today it is just one of those days that I experience one of those magical moments working from home and being self employed. I can do exactly what I want!!! It’s my freedom and it’s my choice! Family is in town and with more coming in tomorrow so my work will be light and my fun will start early!

I have the best boss in the world, me.

Today we are going to have fun with my second passion outside of making money. That’s cooking! We are going to learn how to make one of the most amazing cheese balls of my life.

Ingredients needed:

1 8oz packaged of cream cheese
1 8oz package of cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp steak sauce
2 TBLsp crushed pecans
2 TBLsp chili powder

Shred cheddar and let both cheeses stand and get room temp. Combine in a bowl and add garlic and onion powder then hot sauce and steak sauce. Wash hands throughly and mix well with hands. Nead the cheeses together with your fingers. After about 5 mins of mixing neading form a ball with mixture.

Roll out wax paper wax side up sprinkle a generous layer of the chili powder out and roll cheese ball mixure into it. Use your hands forming the ball to spread it out evenly then lay out crushed pecans and roll the ball in that to cover the outside.

Place ball on small dish cover loosely and let stand for 2 hours in the fridge.

Once you make it please leave comments if you liked it.

Merry Christmas,

I hope you had a Merry Christmas

Many of you who follow this blog will notice the unusual absence over the last couple of weeks. Well it has every thing to do with being a home based business owner and Christmas. I love this time of year.

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays due to the reason for the season and I’m not talking Santa here. I absolutely enjoy the time we spend around our friends and family as well. I made a last minute decision to travel for two and a half weeks this year for the holidays.

Thank Goodness working from home I have the best Boss ever!

We took off for NC to visit family and we got in such a hurry that a cop stopped us. I was going 79 in a 70 mph zone. He was in the Christmas Spirit and I was thankful. He just asked me to slow down a little and of course I did and he wished me a Merry Christmas. In NC, we started looking at houses and land because we will be moving there soon enough. “That’s my wife’s desires once we sell our home on the river in LA.” My request was I just need a computer and Internet connection.

Keeping your wife happy I have learned makes life a lot easier. Thank goodness my wife is pretty easy to make happy. Of course she is completely amazing as well. Not to mention HOT, Beautiful and Sexy <--- This is for brownie points she reads my blog. She's also my biggest cheerleader. So as I write this we have stopped in Biloxi MS to visit more family as we make our way back home. And we are stoked. According to most people 2008 was a rough year on the economy. It may have been, but for us we have been blessed working in DFI we have not noticed much change. Our biggest day was 19,410 dollars in profit this year. Angela Lasher just made 52,000 dollars in 6 weeks. We are completely blessed in our company.

Life doesn’t have to be easy, it just has to be worth it! Thank God it is!

Gustav, is definitely headed toward the Gulf of Mexico where it goes from there nobody knows. This is another one of those moments where I’m glad I work from home. If it gets close trust me the O’Quinn family is heading for the hills :).

Back in the my military days we had to wait for them to evacuate us. Or depending on the equipment we were maintaining I might have to stay behind and send my family off with out me. Now I never really felt like I was in danger but dang who wants to be separated from their family as they sit in the path of a hurricane?

So Gustav come if you like! I’ll pray that my home stays in place but if you take that I’ll still have my family and well my family will still have an income. Did I ever mention how much I live DFI and Coastal Travel? Speaking of loving this business, Edgar (he’s 2) learned to ride a big kids bike today!!!

Enjoy your kids it’s apparent they grow up super fast! If you and your family are near the path of Gustav you will be in our prayers. Be safe and think smart! Don’t stay behind no matter what we all remember the pictures on TV from Katrina.

Stay Safe,
Stacy O’Quinn
Happy Stay at Home Dad

Well after a crazy weekend out of town with the family, I brought home a virus of some sort. I started feeling it Monday evening. Got sick Monday night and from Monday till mid morning on Tuesday the bathroom was my friend.

As I lay in bed sick it occurred to me I’m glad I’m not in the military anymore. I’d have to go to the clinic and they may or may not have sent me home for the day then I would have to stay at work unless my boss decided out of the goodness of his heart to send me home. Then I was like wow after talking to my sister-in-law this weekend if I worked any other job we would have to worry about having enough time off to take a sick day. No Thanks!

We had one of those crazy 24 hour virus’s that hit the entire family. Edgar woke up yesterday morning he’s two. He said, “Mommy I sick in my bed, yucky.” We had to throw away his pillow. By that evening I started feeling better but Dawn was not doing well so I basically managed the kids, Alexis who’s 4 and Edgar who’s 2. Alexis woke up this morning talking about the big day we had yesterday. hehe She so far was the only one that did not get sick.

The good news is it appears to have only been a 24 hour bug and we did get through it. Working from home allowed us to have a “Big Day” at least together as a family. No stress of a normal job. I’m grateful for the small blessings!

Have a Great Day!
