YOU were made for MORE than crying

James 1:2-3 “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

Life is going to knock you down at times.  Bad things happen to really good people all the time.  But you have a choice, you can either get knocked down and have a pity party or you can realize with JOY you were created for much more than your current circumstance.

So maybe you are having a health challenge, relational challenge or maybe you are having a financial struggle?  It’s possible you could have lost your job, or had a major unexpected life event that’s put you in a pickle.  You get to make a decision, you can be identified by your struggle or you can be identified by your ability to overcome.

You may lay your head down at night and cry due to the frustration, the pain and confusion on why you are going through that thing you have going on right now.  But you better cry temporarily and then get the heck up and do something about what is going on in your life.  You can be identified by your current pain or you can be identified by JOY!

Joy opens your eyes to what is possible.  Joy allows you to desire more and overcome obstacles. Remember when you were 18 and 19 and you enthusiastically looked forward to life, the things that you wanted to do when you grew up?  Where did you want to live?  What kind of house did you want?  What type of car did you want to drive?  Who did you want to help?  What was retirement suppose to look like?  When were you suppose to be able to retire?

No one told you that you couldn’t do those things.  But at some point because of life you most likely settled for less than what you really wanted. It doesn’t matter where you came from, what your race is, or your educational level.  I came from complete poverty, with a single parent home and I remember having to choose between getting a Christmas tree or a Christmas present but not enough money for both.  I chose the tiny Christmas tree. I remember living in an old single wide trailer with the pink installation falling out from under it, because you could see under it as you walked up the metal steps.

But as I became a teenager I desired all kinds of things in my life just like you did.  Then when life started in my early 20’s and having a family and suddenly I felt like there was no way out of my struggle.  So I actually accepted it for a season, I was skeptical of anything that offered more.  I lost my joy and therefore lost my faith!

There is more for you!  More is possible!  Stop your crying and let’s do something about the lemons life has handed you.  Because life can’t stop you from making lemonade!  Your creator is bigger than your circumstance.

Special thanks to amazing mom, wife and business woman Lindsay Krause for posting this on FACEBOOK and reminding me of where I’ve come from.

P.S. Your life was meant to help others, if the enemy keeps you crying then it’s difficult for the Lord to use you.
